All aerial photography flights must be reported and authorized by the national defense ministry / aeronautical authority. You will have to gather all the information requested in the following form (AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING).

Please be aware that, in accordance with Law n.º 248/91 of July 16th, Law n.º 837/91 of August 16th and Law n.º 362/97 of June 02nd, is absolutely forbidden to film, photograph and/or perform flights bellow 750 meters over governmental and internal security buildings. Regarding the act of photograph and/or filming in military areas, it is stressed that it will depend on the specific restrictions that are in place for the specific situation.

​The Aerial Photography

​Aerial photography is almost as old as photography itself. The first use of a camera to record the view from above occurred in 1858 when Nadar, aloft in a balloon, took a photograph of a French chateau below him. Realizing the value and uniqueness of the view, he produced a series of photographs of Paris, which he sold to the public.

These were an instant success, and the business of aerial photography was born. Over the years, a number of various methods have been employed to capture the eagle’s view. Many have proven successful and are still in use today, while other methods, such as outfitting homing pigeons with miniature cameras seem almost silly.
